The charming creature appears to be enjoying a meal composed of bamboo leaves as it casually reclines on the floor of its forest home. Depicted behind it is a dense background of bamboo shoots. From the soft texture of the panda’s coat to the distinct shape of the bamboo leaves, wildlife enthusiasts will undoubtedly enjoy the realistic portrayal of both this magnificent animal and its native habitat. Customers should note that beginning in 2015, the obverse of these coins will no longer display the coin’s weight or purity. This omission is part of the series’ transition in measuring units from troy ounces to grams.
The reverse side of the coin offers viewers a glimpse of China’s most sacred building, the Temple of Heaven. This revered landmark has been skillfully rendered in exquisite detail so as to accurately depict each iconic detail, such as its staircase and triple tiered gables.
